Thanks - however When I log in to the vsphere UI I see dashboard, enviorment, operations, planning, alerts, analysis and reports tabs.I don't see an "Analytics" tab.  So I'm not sure where you are...

We are using the virtual appliance of vCops.  Page 107 of the Administration guide shows instructions on starting / stopping services.  This command doesn't appear to work - service vcops stop...

actually, it does work-> login to the analytics VM with *root* (only root can use the service command)-> type "service vcops restart analytics":-> should restart it

yep, most likely you have to clear the maintenance mode from custom-ui. As a new feature in 5.8, vcops will now track the maintenance mode for hosts and hides them from the inventory.
