Snapshot will impact IO a little and consume disk space, but it won't impact vC Ops to the degree you're describing. Have you cycled the appliance yet with a graceful reboot?

Or, in the Custom UI, go to Support > Audit report, and a report will be generated that will show you the current # of metrics and resource collecting.
